Portraits

I love portraiture as a genre. The challenge is creating a space in which the photographer and subject are in perfect harmony. In portraiture connectivity is all important - if ultimately the viewer is to feel a connection with the photograph, the photographer needs to begin this process by establishing a strong interrelation with the subject that is being photographed. This is paramount so that the unique and inherent character of the subject can be captured in the image. I love using different lighting techniques to express a certain mood or narrative, and make the portrait feel more emotive. I have always been fascinated by the miscellany of the human race and how we as individuals interact with one another. Each and everyone of us is different. The great challenge is to be able to capture this diversity and to portray something that is real, expressive and visually emotive.
